Uruguay 234 tons Galvanized Steel Strip Project

Wanzhi Steel recently exported 234 tons of galvanized steel strip to Montevideo Construction Technology Co., Ltd. in Uruguay, South America, and received unanimous praise from the customer team for our quality and service. The following are the details of this cooperation.

Montvideo Construction Technology Co., Ltd. in Uruguay is a leading company specializing in the construction of lightweight steel-framed residential and industrial buildings. They have a stable and substantial demand for galvanized steel strips, a core material for building frames. The client required extremely high corrosion resistance and mechanical strength to withstand the challenges posed by their maritime climate. After consulting with multiple suppliers, they ultimately placed their order with us and another supplier.

Project Production

The technical teams of both parties held several online meetings and had in-depth discussions on details such as the steel strip material (SPCC), size, galvanized layer weight, and mechanical properties (tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation). We provided precision-cut mill-edge steel coils according to customer requirements and confirmed the packaging method for reels with an inner diameter of 610mm.

Raw materials and production control

High-quality cold-rolled low-carbon steel is used in production to ensure excellent processing properties. The steel strip undergoes rigorous pre-treatment processes, including alkaline washing, pickling, rinsing, flux plating, and drying, to thoroughly remove surface oxides and grease. Hot-dip plating is then performed in a zinc bath at 450°C-460°C, with strict control of air knife pressure and speed to ensure the zinc coating meets specified thickness. Advanced spray cooling technology is used after plating to optimize mechanical properties.

Quality Inspection

• Online Monitoring: During production, a thickness gauge monitors the zinc coating weight in real time, and a laser width and thickness measurement system monitors product dimensional tolerances to ensure consistent performance across the entire coil.
• Laboratory Testing: Chemical composition analysis, tensile testing to verify tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation, coating testing, bend testing, and surface quality inspection are performed.

Final factory inspection (QA/QC)

Before packaging, SGS, a third-party inspection agency commissioned by our Uruguayan customer, visited the factory, randomly sampled steel coils, and witnessed and reviewed all the aforementioned test items. The test results fully met the requirements of the technical agreement, and SGS issued an authoritative inspection report, a crucial document for customs clearance and quality assurance.

Packaging and transportation

Professional packaging

Each steel coil is securely strapped with high-strength fiberglass strapping to prevent loosening. The surface is then wrapped with moisture-proof oil-proof paper and a layer of high-strength plastic film to effectively protect against moisture and salt spray. Finally, a thickened corrugated cardboard ring is placed to protect the coil edges from impact.

All coils are neatly stacked on standard export wooden pallets and secured to the pallets with steel strapping.

International Logistics

• Full container load (FCL) shipping is performed using 20-foot containers. Desiccant is placed inside the containers during loading to further control humidity. Pallets are also secured to prevent shifting and collisions during transportation.
• The cargo departs from Tianjin Port, crosses the Pacific Ocean, passes through the Panama Canal, and finally arrives at the Port of Montevideo in Uruguay.
• Wanzhi Steel provides CIF services, covering all China-based paperwork, ocean freight, and cargo insurance, greatly simplifying the customer’s purchasing process.
